Burrows is a native Londoner who was born in St. Pancras and raised in Stoke Newington with her father, an architect, and mother, a Hackney primary school teacher and trade unionist.
Burrows was politically involved from an early age and was raised by Socialist Workers Party members, including her parents and stepfather.
Burrows first attended Stoke Newington School before transferring to William Tyndale Primary School in Islington.
She said that she preferred a multicultural, inclusive setting when asked if she preferred a school in Hackney or Hampstead. When she was eleven years old, she engaged in acting lessons at the Anna Scher Theatre.
