Zendaya sings 'Let Me Love You' with Mario on ABC's Greatest Hits
The latest episode of ABC’s Greatest Hits has provided us with some incredible musical moments.
First off, Fifth Harmony wowed us with their Destiny’s Child medley. Then, singer/actress/all-round girl boss Zendaya performed a duet with Mario!
The pair sang Mario’s 2004 hit song ‘Let Me Love You’, of which Zendaya described as her jam. She said, “If you do not listen to that song in your car, full volume, belt every ad-lib to that, we can’t talk”.
Check out their brilliant duet below.
Speaking of recording ‘Let Me Love You’, Mario revealed that the process was rather unique. “I recorded the record…the last minute, like literally the last ad-lib, the computer shut down and the engineer lost all the vocals. When that happened, I was like, ‘Okay, this record is gonna be special’. Those type of things just don’t happen like that.”
At 18, ‘Let Me Love You’ was a huge success for Mario. Whilst touring with Destiny’s Child, he was able to perform the song on every continent.
Zendaya was only 8 at the time of its release, however, looking back, she recalls how the song was a part of a different time in RnB. “It was all about getting the girl, appreciating the girl and loving her and stuff like that,” she said. “That song definitely captures the time that it came out”. Zendaya added that it was a cool and surreal experience to be able to sing one of her favourite songs with Mario.
