Mendes tells OK! Magazine that she likes to workout. She says that she likes to start first thing in the mornings. "Working out sets the tone for my day. It puts me immediately in a great mood and makes me feel as if I've done something for myself." "One of those benefits for regular morning exercisers may include weight loss. According to a 2019 article in the International Journal of Obesity, a group who exercised exclusively in the morning was more likely to lose weight over 10 months than those who exercised later in the afternoon. Other studies, says Dr. Henry, have shown that morning exercisers are more likely to make healthier food choices throughout the day, which may play into this phenomenon," says the University of Miami.

Mendes previously had struggled with an eating disorder and food issues. She tells OK! Magazine that she turned to a nutritionist to help her out. "My nutritionist completely cured my fear of carbs," Mendes shared. "She also cured my addiction to dieting. I was always on some kind of weird diet, but I haven't been on one since. I'm very proud of myself!" Pick a simple diet that "focuses on changing your daily routine by adding and breaking habits that can affect your weight. Simple habits, such as eating more fruits and vegetables, not eating while you watch TV, and moving your body for 30 minutes a day, can help you lose weight," says the Mayo Clinic.

Mendes revealed to Health that the pandemic has helped her to concentrate more on herself. "In quarantine, I've learned how much I actually like spending time with myself. It's been nice to realize that, and I think it's something we all need sometimes. When this all started, I was in a place in my life that was go, go, go. I never imagined I'd have time to just sit and be by myself. It has really made me reevaluate priorities."

For Mendes, wellness means doing what she wants. She explains to Health, "Sometimes I'll randomly sit down and check in and be like: 'What does my body want? Do I need water, sleep, or to move around and stretch? Should I journal?' I think being well is about checking in with your physical and mental health and evaluating what you really need at that moment."

Mendes tells Health that she has started working out on her own terms. "My trainer sends me workouts, and I do them on my own," she says. "I've realized I really like working out on my own. I feel like I can pay more attention to my form and what I'm doing."
